Learning:
doc.sitecore.com: Detailed documentation of each of Sitecore’s products and each of the features within the products from a user and a developer perspective.
learning.sitecore.com: Your personalized learning portal with all the courses offered by Sitecore. It also includes transcripts of courses you have completed and you can create and track your own learning path with Sitecore.
Discover Sitecore YouTube channel: Video content put out by Sitecore. Sitecore collaborates with experts on this content. So, if you have a topic to discuss, Sitecore would love to hear about it and work with you on the video. These videos include anything from interviews with experts to tutorials to what’s new in the releases of Sitecore’s products.
Sitecore Blog: Sitecore insights put out by various members of the Sitecore team. They include product and implementation tips and tricks, as well as announcements and customer case studies.
Sitecore Partner Network: A resource for Sitecore partners only. But if you belong to a Sitecore partner, this is an amazing resource for Sitecore news, branding, sandboxes and licenses, support, and partner specific Sitecore training.
Instructor led training courses: Unlike most of the above learning content, which is self-learning at your own pace, the Instructor led courses have a real life training instructor from Sitecore. These courses allow you to ask questions, interact with the instructor, and discuss your scenarios as you learn Sitecore. This a great way to start your journey with any of the Sitecore products.
Paths: Sitecore curated learning based on your job role and products that your company or client owns or might be in the process of acquiring.
Networking/events:
Sitecore Symposium: Sitecore’s yearly or bi-yearly conference where they reveal their product roadmap, new features, and make big announcements. You can also hear from experts throughout the ecosystem, and from clients on their specific implementations. Sitecore partners also generally reveal their own innovations and Sitecore product compliments, offerings, and services. It’s a great event to network with like-minded individuals and meet others in similar situations, job roles, or industries as your self, as well as learn from others who maybe further along their Sitecore journey.
Sitecore City Tours: A series of one day events held throughout the world, and sponsored by Sitecore. Sitecore City Tours are a way for Sitecore to feature Symposium highlights or product roadmaps, new features, etc. during off years from Symposium. It also has expert speakers, customer stories, and panels from the industry and from within Sitecore.
SUGCON: Sitecore User Group Conference (SUGCON) occurs once a year in Asia. Europe, and Australia/New Zealand. Generally, SUGCON in North America occurs in years where there may not be a Sitecore Symposium. SUGCON is put on by the Sitecore community and is Sitecore community run and sponsored. The format is similar to Sitecore Symposium, but will have fewer announcements and releases with a greater focus on technical content.
Sitecore User Groups (virtual, in person): This is a list of many local and virtual Sitecore User Groups that advertise on meetup. User groups are a great way to network with Sitecore professionals in your area. They are also a low commitment, low stakes environment to share and gain expertise in Sitecore. Strategy Lunches/Happy Hour: Get together of Sitecore Strategy experts as they tackle various topics strategy topics. These sessions are all virtual and tend to be less developer/technical focused, and instead focused on marketing, strategy, and business outcomes.
Strategy Webinars: Hosted by Sitecore, these quarterly webinars (also called SMAC for Strategy MVP Advisory Council) are focused on content presented by Strategy MVPs or experts. The webinars are virtual and have great insights, tricks and trips with using, configuring, and strategizing with Sitecore.
Hackathon: This is a community hosted event. Community members form teams and join the hackathon, where they are given a challenge to complete within the weekend. There are several different categories of awards for the best solutions to the challenges. The hackathon is not only a great event to showcase your Sitecore technical chops, network and bond with teammates for a weekend, but also a place to find some innovative community developed modules.
Sitecore Community Lunch: Weekly lunch conversation that occurs every Friday within the Sitecore Community, highlighting and conversing all things Sitecore. This is a fairly low key, casual conversation and is a great opportunity to network and discuss challenges or problems that you maybe facing with experts within the community.
Virtual community for questions and conversations:
Sitecore Slack: Various channels on different topics, events, and products within the Sitecore ecosystem. Join channels that are of interest to you, or sign up above to get your curated list of topics to join. This is a great forum to ask and answer questions, give feedback, or simply join conversations within the Sitecore community based on your topics of interest.
Stack Exchange: Answers to a variety of Sitecore related problems, vetted by experts in the community. Stack exchange’s scoring mechanism ensures the best available answer to your Sitecore problem. It’s a great place to search for your questions/problems and to post non time-sensitive concerns, questions, and issues.
community.sitecore.com: An aggregation of Sitecore related events, blogs, forums, news, and announcements. This is a great place to generally find information and news put out by Sitecore and the Sitecore community. It’s also a place to propagate your blog posts for the Sitecore community to see. This website also has a leader board for users who post the most to the Sitecore community, and thus is a great place to post and gamify your Sitecore credentials. This website is maintained by Sitecore.
Sitecore subreddit: An aggregation of Sitecore community blogs and user groups, and other Sitecore topics and conversations. This is Sitecore community generated and maintained content in contrast with community.sitecore.com, which is maintained by Sitecore.
Personal blogs: An aggregated list of Sitecore related blog posts found throughout the community. This is a great place to learn of and from experts in the Sitecore community, and if you create your own posts, it’s a great place to share it for others to be found as well.
Becoming an MVP:
Understanding the different types of MVP and responsibilities: If you are interested in becoming an MVP, or if you are in the process of applying for a Sitecore MVP, this blog post is for you. It describes the 3 types of Sitecore MVPs along with the type of content you should be contributing in order to gain or maintain your respective MVP status.
MVP mentorship program: An excellent program for current and future MVPs or even those who want to become more involved in the Sitecore community. This program pairs MVP mentors with mentees in the beginning of the year based on skills and interests. There have been many success stories of mentees becoming MVPs and mentors for future years. The MVP mentorship program is a great way to get a start and give back to the Sitecore community.
MVP website: A great source of all information related to Sitecore’s MVP program. When you are ready and feel like you have contributed the right amount of content for the year to qualify, this is where you would apply to become a Sitecore MVP in the appropriate category. The website also holds a repository of all current and past MVPs, along with the years they received their MVP designations, and the categories in which they received it. This could be a place to find experts in different areas and connect with other like-minded individuals or mentors.
